Technical + Video +Danny Elfman and Tim Burton’s audio and visual elements that work so well in movies also work hand in hand in this Warner Records package. This metal zoetrope is made to resemble an object that would be found in Elfman’s basement a hundred years from now. Twelve filmstrips designed by Burton are printed on a beautiful cotton paper stock and interact with the zoetrope to create moving images while Elfman’s music plays with the push of a button. The velvet-lined box also has compartments to hold sixteen CDs, a DVD, a custom USB and an impressive case bound book with a red satin ribbon lifter.
Technical + Video +Every detail is well thought out in this striking package for Universal. A linen wrapped rigid box with gold foil stamped title and black foil stamped codes alludes to the fate bestowing sewing machines from the movie. Clear foil stamping on the inside liner match Jolie’s tattoos and a clear lenticular in a plexi cell plays a five second movie clip. The rigid box is held in a plexi slipcase with faux metal plastic injection molded bullet tip on and silk screened crack. The bullet motif is extended to the inside of the package, where a custom bullet hub holds two discs on a target.
Technical + Video + Awards +Though “The Dude” never actually bowls in this cult classic, a bowling ball is the perfect tribute to hold its ten-year anniversary edition DVD. Designed by Shorewood for Universal, the package is injection molded plastic and twists open to get to the discs.
Technical +While Ray Charles was said to be way ahead of his time with his music, Rhino Handmade was way ahead of its time with this package. Produced back in 2006, this rigid faux record player has a specialty wrap with real hardware and a vac formed record player that lifts up to access an art book plus eight digipacks held in a flocked vac form tray.
